Commemorative monument. Designed by Edward Buckton Lamb to the memory of Isaac D'Israeli (1766-1848) the father of Benjamin Disraeli and commissioned as a "surprise" gift from his wife Mary Anne. Tall ashlar pillar on pedestal, with 4 Roman Ionic pilasters under entablature, high blocking course and um. Profile portrait on east rice. Raised panels on pedestal, that to east face inscribed "In Memory of Isaac Disraeli ofBradenham in this county Esquire and Hon DCL of the University of Oxford who by his happy Genius diffused among the Multitude that Elevating taste for Literature which before his time was the Privelege only of the Learned. This monument was Shed in affectionate Remembrance by &iary Anne the wife of his Eldest Son the Rt Honorable Benjamin Disraeli, Lord of this Manor, Chancellor of the Exchequer 1853 1852-8 and 9 and now for the Sixth Time Knight of this Shire June 1862" North pedestal panel with coronet and inscription "Mary Anne Disraeli Viscountess Beaconfield ()b. Dec. 19. 1872. Dulcis conjux." Enclosure of low walls and pillars. Isaac D'Israeli was a successful and prolific author of literary anthologies and historical studies. This commission led to the architect remodelling Hughenden.
