AYLESBURY STREET 1. 5135 (West Side) FENNY STRATFORD No 43 SP 8833 5/5 II GV 2. Designed by a local architect Chadwick. Dated 1898. Some Norman-Shavian influence: free C17 style building. 2 storeys red brick. Steep gable end tiled roof with bands of scalloped tiles and cresting tiles to ridge. Slightly off centre timber framed and roughcast gable projecting over front with date panel. 1st floor has 2 outer squat windows, casements with fanlight heads, brick voussoirs to round arches and hood moulds - 2 inner wood casements with fluted keystones to flat arches flanking oriel bay window, with fanlight over centre casement, and moulded entablature. On ground floor rectangular bay window with wood balustrade, 2 other casement windows and shop front with passage way to side. No 43, The Maltsters Arms, Nos 49 and 51 form a group.
