II*

House, c.1620-40 with early C18 facade. Red brick with paler bricks, tuck pointed, to C18 facade. Parapetted roof of slate with moulded modillion cornice. Two ridge stacks, one with two and the other with four shafts set diagonally. Original plan of two parallel linked ranges with gable ends to road. Three storeys. Stone sills and gauged brick arches to five recessed hung sashes of twelve panes each. The third storey windows are smaller and of only six panes, and three of the windows are blind. Central doorway with doorcase of engaged Ionic columns with pulvinated frieze carved with Greek garland motif. Door and reveals of raised and fielded panels. One gable end to rear has an original label to an attic window, and a similar larger label to a blocked window at first floor, both of cut brick with return stops.
Interior. One first floor room lined with bolection moulded and raised and fielded panelling in two heights with moulded cornice and dado. Bolection moulded fireplace surround. One ground floor room is also panelled. Fine c.1640 closed-string staircase of five flights. Turned balusters, and moulded rail with square newel posts. One first floor room has ovolo moulding to a cross-frame casement, now blocked.
