Details
WEST ROAD TL 44 58 667/16/10026 Harvey Court, Gonville & Caius College II* Student residences. 1960-62. Sir Leslie Martin and Colin St John Wilson. Buff brick, bronze cladding; flat roof. 3 storeys plus basement. Raised courtyard of square-plan, surrounded on three sides with windows facing outward (south). Raised square area with canted sides to centre of courtyard provides top-lighting for breakfast room below. Each storey of accommodation is set back, providing paved terrace area in front of rooms at each level. Brick strips between rooms. Full-height glazing in timber frames, 2-light with rail at dado height. Outer perimeter overhanging to upper storeys on tall brick piers, and expressed staircases. Vertical timber slatting with windows behind. L. Martin, Buildings and Ideas 1933-83.
