Details
MELDRETH HIGH STREET TL 3746 (West side) 22/220 Nos. 55 and 57 II
House, now two dwellings. Late C17 or early C18, extended C19. Timber framed, rendered and tile roof with grey brick ridge stack at right angles to the ridge. Originally single range, three bay, lobby entry plan. Two storeys. Four casements, C20, at first floor. At ground floor the original doorway opposite the stack has been blocked. Doorway to No. 57 at right hand with boarded door. One twelve pane hung sash, and two late C20 casements. A change in the height at eaves level and the plinth suggest that the bay at the north end is of a different building period. Parlour range at rear of No. 55, added early C19. Framed and stuccoed with slate roof and grey brick stack. Two storeys. Two flush frame, twelve pane hung sashesto each storey. Inside: No. 55 has c1840 details including a fireplace surround.
