9/57 Earthcottgreen Farmhouse 21.10.52 - II

Farmhouse. Early C17 with later alterations and additions. Rubble, rendered, brick, double Roman tiled roof with gable stacks, diagonal brick chimneys. T-plan, former through passage, wings added C19. 2 storeys and attic, 3 windows, all 3 and 4-light C19 casements with drip mould, 2 gables rising to main roof ridge height each with 3-light casement with cornice, ball finials; central door in moulded surround with small shields in spandrels of depressed 4-centred arch, dentilled architrave, drip mould, plank door with planted fillets; C20 pitched roof extension to west, C19 2 and one storey wing to east with random C20 windows and door in gauged brick head. East side has half-hip roof to C18 former dairy block (aligned with original house), rear has gables repeated as on front, all C20 windows and door. Interior: deep chamfered beams, early C19 stair blocks through passage, former stair doors at ground and 1st floor, panelled, chequered chip carved doors in bolection moulded frames at 1st floor, decorative flat baluster ventilation at upper part of cupboard in west room, next to (former hall) fireplace.
