Coaching inn. C17 with later alterations and additions. Rubble, rendered,
slate and pantiled roof with brick gable stacks. F-plan. Main block 2 storeys
and 1:1 windows, with lower 2-storey projecting wing to left, formerly open at
ground floor, with round headed arches with gauged brick heads, stone keys and
impost blocks, all painted, now C20 windows set in recesses all with glazing
bars and C19 2-pane sashes at 1st floor, C18 pair of sashes in exposed boxes to
1st floor right, ground floor windows in canted bay with cornice and parapet,
similar windows to left of wing with decorative frieze, both with glazing bars.
North wing has ground floor sash in exposed box, 2-light mullioned window with
leaded lights and blocked door, 3-light window and 16-pane sash at 1st floor,
single storey south wing has 2-light similar window and C20 door, rear has
2 irregular gables to main block and one to north, all with timber verges,
canted bay to ground floor, sash in exposed box at 1st floor, other irregular
C20 windows and extensions. Interior: chamfered beams, stone flagged floor,
one C17 door with strap hinges at 1st floor.
