ST 47 SE CLAPTON IN GORDANO C.P. CLEVEDON LANE (north side)

4/3 Myrtle Cottage - II House. C17 origin with later alterations and additions. Painted rubble, plain tiled roof with stone ridge and gable stacks, some pantiles and double Roman tiles. Lobby entry plan. 1 1/2 storeys, front has catslide roof to left over small round-headed opening and porch with segmental-headed opening, door with raised fillets and small round-headed opening to right; two 3-light casements to right with C20 glazing and timber lintels, gabled dormer above with 3-light round-headed window; single storey pantiled addition to right with 2-light casement and door to side. Left return has large weathered external stack, set in recess in stack at ground floor a 2-light round-headed window with round mouldings and relieving arch, first floor similar 3-light window with hood mould and relieving arch (of similar style and possibly re-used from Clapton Court (q.v.)), small lancets to sides of stack. Right return has 2-light casement at first floor. Rear has two 2-light and one 3-light casement, small single light (probably for stair), gabled dormer with 2-light casement and 2 roof lights; single storey lean-to addition to left with large 2-light casement and double Roman tiled roof. Interior: chamfered beams, wide fireplace to ridge stack with heavy chamfered lintel and remains of oven recess, C20 straight stair to rear in position of former stair. Rest of interior not accessible.
