II

House. Late C18, with C19 addition to right and later alterations. Sandstone rubble, rendered to left, pantiled roof with raised coped verges and brick gable stacks, plain tiled porch. House to left of 2 storeys and 3 windows, all sashes, at ground floor parapet boxes, central panelled and glazed door with C20 porch with hipped roof, parapet and coping; lower 2-storey addition set back to right, 2 windows, ground and first floor right have 16-pane sash with gauged brick segmental head, ground floor left 16-pane sash and first floor sash with segmental heads. Right return has 3-light window ground floor left, 16-pane sash at first floor right. Rear has garage to left with blocked first floor window, rear of main house has ground floor 2 C20 windows and central C20 flat-roofed porch, first floor has 2 small 16-pane sashes and central sash; side of projecting block to left has 2-light casement at ground floor and small 16-pane sash at first floor; cast iron pump and stone basin set in recess in rear wall. Interior: not inspected. Barle House was built on former formal gardens of The Beeches (q.v.).
