5/81 Combe Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. C17 with C19 and C20 alterations. Rubble, pebble-dashed, double Roman tiled roof with crestings and brick gable stacks, some pantiles. Cross passage, T-plan formed by rear staircase tower. 2 storeys and 3 windows, ground floor has 4-light casement right and left with timber lintel, ovolo mullions and C19 lights, 2nd from right a similar 2-light casement, 2nd from left steep gabled C19 porch with bargeboards and finial, heavy plank and batten door with studs and strap hinges, moulded frame, pointed arched side lights; first floor has 3-light casements with timber lintels, some ovolo mullions remaining, rest C19 lights. Left return has 2-light casement at ground floor right as on front and single storey lean-to; right return has C19 1½ storey wing with 3-light casement at ground floor and small 2-light casement at first floor, small single attic light. Rear has single storey pantiled lean-to, glazed with C20 door, enclosing rear passage door and earlier rubble lean-to to right; 2-storey stair tower has 3-light casement with ovolo mullions and timber lintel at first and 2nd floor, smaller at 2nd floor. Interior: door to front right room has carved panel over lintel with scroll-work, moulded beams in front right room; stair in tower divides to right and left at half-landing. Rest of interior not accessible.
