HILL ROAD 1. 5121 (North East Side) No 39 (Burstead House) ST 4071 1/29 11.11.74. II GV 2. Mid C19 house in Jacobean style occupying a prominent site facing down Bellevue Road. 2 storey rubble front with ashlar dressings. Ends come forward slightly under shaped gables with finials. Smaller gables to section set back in centre behind a plain parapet and to wing on right. Carved scallop shells to gables. Rusticated quoins to main front. 3 windows with raised surrounds. 3 lights with stone mullions and transoms to sides on 1st floor. Single light with strapwork cresting to centre. One 4-light window to right on ground floor and a 5-light canted bay to left. Central round-headed doorway under elaborate curved cornice with keystone. Ionic pilasters flank entrance.

Nos 39 to 43 (odd) form a group.
