The following building shall be added to the list: SU 57 NE BASILDON UPPER BASILDON 1/21 Weatherboard barn and attached yard wall at GV Hookend Farm (on north side of farm yard).

Barn and attached yard wall. Barn probably late C18 reusing some earlier timber, altered; wall mid-late C19. Barn timber-framed with weatherboard cladding on brick and flint plinth; half-hipped plain tile roof with Welsh slate to rear aisle and midstray. Wall of red brick in Flemish bond. Barn: 3 bays with aisle on north side and central opposing cart-ent- ries with double board doors, that on north side under half-hipped gable; that on south side in later pent-roofed midstray with late C20 weatherboard- ing on right and later shelter-shed addition across left bay which is not of special interest. From south-east corner of barn, wall runs across farmyard, having rounded brick coping, and gateway at barn end (with replacement gate not of special interest). Barn interior retains timber frame with jowelled wall posts, straight-braced to wall-plate, arch-braced to tie-beams; collared queen-post roof trusses; clasped purlins; wind braces; some replacement rafters; ridge-piece inserted and rear right bay heightened.
