Details
WHEELOCK WHARF SJ 75 NE 5/101 Canal Cottage GV II Former Canal Workers Cottage and still rented from the owners of the Trent & Mersey Canal, circa 1775 (Canal Engineer James Brindley). Coloured brick with roof of handmade tiles, 2 storeys, 2 window bays with additional blank bay (west)containing door. Two light flush casements with glazing bars and segmental arch turning pieces, both levels, but with night vents in addition to ground floor windows. Wide boarded door in frame under segmental arch. Early block bonding between the windows indicates that the east bay was added probably circa 1900 and an external stack at the west gable end has been lowered to below roof level. Existing stacks are at the east gable and one bay in from the west gable. Gable barge boards. Listed for group value only.
