SJ 48 SE HALE C.P. HIGH STREET (South Side) 4/16 Nos. 38 & 40

28.1.71 II Pair of cottages late C18 lime washed brick with slate roof 2 storeys one bay each with front gables. Each cottage has a horizontal sliding sash on each floor with Gothic label course above, the upper windows being in the facade gables. No.38 has a boarded door and No.40 a panelled door, both in small modern porches. Roof of large slates with sandstone ridge, centre cluster of three octagonal brick chimneys.
