GV II
Revetment, terrace and enclosing walls and steps: c1912 by T H Mawson for R A Prestwich. Irregularly coursed red sandstone walls and York stone paving. Paved terrace against the house has lines of steps and an openwork parapet. On the east side it is buttressed and forms part of 2 walled rectangular lawns divided by steps and a pathway. To the south these are surrounded by low walls with bold ramps, and to the north by a wall with an open parapet. At the junction and each corner of the eastern side of these lawns are small enclosed gardens. To the north it is walled around a circular pond, in the middle it is hexagonal around a formal bed (partly yew hedged), to the south the steps divide around a circular pool with a half-domed canopy containing a fountain.
