Details
MELBECKS MORLEY GATE, SE 09 NW near Healaugh 16/112 Park Hall 4.9.52 GV II Farmhouse and cottage under 1 roof, now farmhouse. Dated 1700, but altered C18 and c1900. Originally for Lord Thomas Wharton. Coursed watershot rubble, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, with added rear outshut. First floor windows 3:2. House: plain stone surrounds with straight tooling to openings. Central doorway with shouldered jambs, c1900 6-panel door. 4-pane sash windows. Cottage to right: windows have later plain stone surrounds with 4-pane sashes. On ground floor c1900 6-panel door to left and sash window. Shaped kneelers, ashlar copings overall, 3 ridge stacks with classical cornices. Rear: quoined surround with moulded arris to doorway, inscribed on lintel 'LORD 1700' TW Left return: projecting chimney-breast. Right return: loft window with chamfered surround.
