8/121 Coach House, approximately 60 metres to north of Swinithwaite Hall

GV II

Coach house and stables. c1800. By John Foss of Richmond. Coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 2:2:2 bays. Projecting quoins. Central section projects slightly and has quoins. 2 elliptical- arched coach openings with ashlar surrounds and board doors. Band. First floor: shuttered window; pitching door with interrupted jambs. Band forming pedimented gable. In gable, semicircular dovecote in ashlar surround with keystone. Corniced gable. Openings in outer ranges have ashlar surrounds with segmental-arched lintels. Between bays 1 and 2, 5 and 6, 4-panel doors in surrounds on plinths. Ground-floor windows: part-shuttered stable windows. First floor: hayloft openings with latticed shutters. Hipped roofs.
