Details

EAST KNOYLE MILTON ST 83 SE (north side) 8/36 The Homestead GV II Detached cottage. Late C17, extended early C18. English bond brick with vitrified headers to front, returns dressed limestone, thatched roof with brick stacks. Single-storey and attic, 3 windows. C18 build to right has 4-panelled door and 2-light leaded casement, lozenge diaper in vitrified headers to centre, C17 range to left has 2-light and 3-light leaded casements, three eyebrow dormers to attic, the roofline of C17 range lower. C19 single- storey extension at left end has 3-light wooden casement and tiled roof. Rear has 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement and blocked doorway to C17 range, C18 brick range has 2-light casement and 2-light wood mullioned casement, two eyebrow dormers with 2- light leaded casement and 2-light C19 casement. Interior has blocked open fireplace with chamfered lintel on brick jambs and chamfered beams, planked doors. C18 drawing room has chamfered beam with stepped stops, good corner cupboard with keystone and imposts to round arched head, shaped shelves and moulded panelling either side and below.
