Details
EAST KNOYLE MILTON ST 83 SE (north side) 8/37 Valley Farmhouse GV II Farmhouse, now detached house. Late C17. Dressed limestone, thatched roof with coped verges and brick stacks. Baffle entry opposite boxed-in stairs. Two-storey, 2-window. Central 6- panelled door in C19 gabled porch, 2-light wooden casement to left and 3-light leaded casement with quadrant stay to right. First floor has two 3-light leaded casements. Former stable to right, now part of house, has 3-light wooden casement and C20 dormer, kitchen extension to left, former dairy has 3-light wooden casement, both extensions have tiled roofs. Rear has French windows to left, 2-light leaded casement and C20 four-light leaded casement to right, moulded 4-panelled door in chamfered surround and 2-light casement to kitchen to right, first floor has two 2- light leaded casements and one 2-light wooden casement. Good interior retains central stairs boxed in with moulded plank and muntin, landing has C17 turned balusters and square newels with moulded finials. Room to left of entrance has open fireplace with chamfered cambered lintel on chamfered stone jambs. Parlour has stone fireplace surround with chamfered lintel, cupboard to right with shaped shelves and arched head with key and imposts on reeded pilasters. Plank and muntin partition also to attic stairs, 3-bay original roof. Good planked doors with moulded rails.
