Details

EAST KNOYLE MILTON ST 83 SE (south side) 8/47 Clouds Lodge GV II Detached cottage. Early C18, extended late C19, probably by Webb. English bond brick with vitrified headers, stone gable ends, thatched roof with coped verges and gable end stone stacks. L- plan. Single-storey and attic, 3-windows. Central half-glazed door with gabled canopy, 3-light leaded casement either side. One long eyebrow dormer with 2-light leaded casement to centre, 3-light either side. Right return has lean-to extension with 4-panelled door. Rear has leaded casements and eyebrow dormers. 1880s rear wing has gabled stone porch with coped verge and half-glazed door, 2-light steel casement and one leaded light to left of English bond ground floor, moulded brick string course to dressed limestone first floor; two gabled dormers with steel casements. Cottage on the Clouds Estate extended after building of Clouds House (q.v.) with details similar to those on Webb's service buildings (q.v.).
