Details
EAST KNOYLE - ST 83 SE 8/4 Moors Farmhouse GV II Farmhouse. Probably c1700, extended late C18 and refronted c1840. Dressed limestone rear, Flemish bond brick front, Welsh slate roof with gable end brick stacks. Two-storey and attic, 3-window, south front. Central door with 6 fielded panels in gabled trellised porch, 16-pane sash either side. First floor has central 12-pane sash with 16-pane sash left and right. Gabled C19 dormer with 2- light casement. Attached to left is 2-storey C19 former cheese room, now with office and bedroom to first floor, 2-light and 3- light casements. Right return is rubble stone, former roofline predating rear outshut visible. Rear has 2-light and 3-light leaded and wooden casements to ground and first floor of 2-storey outshut, probably late C18, rear of cheese room has glazed formerly open fronted porch. Interior partly remodelled during 1980s by Duchy of Cornwall. Good example of lowland dairy farm in this parish.
