ASKRIGG NAPPA SD 99 SE 9/28 Stable-block and loose- boxes adjoining west end 25.3.69 of Nappa Hall (formerly listed as Stalles and Byes at Nappa Hall)
GV II Stable-block and loose-boxes, now farm buildings. Mid-C19. Rubble, stone slate roof. Stable-block, at right angles to hall: 2 storeys, 7 bays; loose-boxes in angle between stable-block and hall, attached by stone steps to stable-block: 1½ storeys, 3 bays. Stable block: in bay 2, carriage entrance with 4-centred arch towards hall and semicircular rear arch. In bay 6, coach-house with matching 4-centred-arched doorway In bays 1, 4 and 7, board doors in chamfered ashlar surrounds on plinths with hoodmoulds. Part-glazed, part-shuttered windows in chamfered ashlar surrounds with hoodmoulds. Stone gutter brackets. Loose-boxes: board doors in chamfered ashlar surrounds with hoodmoulds. Stone steps lead to hay-loft doorway in left return. The stables form a range complementary to Nappa Hall.
