MATERIALS: roughly coursed stone rubble; graduated stone slate roof; brick chimneys.

EXTERIOR: the main elevation faces south and is of two bays and three stories, the stonework and roofline being continuous with that of the property to the right (east), Number 6. The property is set on a hill and the window openings to the left (west) bay are positioned lower than those to the right bay.

The front door is to the right bay, set in line with the windows above. It has a C20 half-glazed door with a rectangular overlight all set within a finely carved stone doorcase formed with a shouldered architrave supporting an ornamented frieze and cornice. The single ground floor window is to the left bay, offset slightly to the left of the windows above. This ground floor window is a canted bay window that has reeded pilasters supporting a plain frieze that is corniced to its flat roof, the window being an eight-over-eight hornless sash. The windows to the two upper floors have projecting sills and rubbed-brick flat arches. The first-floor have eight-over-eight sashes, those to the second floor are similar but shorter with half-height upper sashes. The west gable is quoined, raised and coped, incorporating a shaped kneeler. It has a ridge stack, a second ridge stack rising between the two bays.
