15/32 Front railings, walls, gateposts and gate piers to the Manor House 4.2.69 (formerly listed as Gate piers at Manor House)

GV II

Railings, walls, gateposts and gate piers. Early C18 and C19. Wrought-iron railings, sandstone ashlar gate piers, coursed rubble walls. At north end of front railings, C18 ashlar pier with banded rustication to front and back, and cornice (top overgrown with ivy and not visible). Low wall with canted coping supporting plain railings with pointed bars, interrupted in centre by 2 smaller gateposts, circular in plan and shaped like cannon, and with ball finials. Modern wrought-iron gate not of special interest. The corresponding large gate pier at the south end of the railings only survives in its lowest courses, the rest having been replaced during the remodelling of the south-east wing. Included for group value.
