18/50 . Two Stapylton memorials approximately 7 metres south-east of south-east corner of chancel of Church of St Peter and St Felix

GV II

Two adjacent tombstones. Mid C18. Ashlar sandstone. Slab to south has shaped top in form of a scrolled pediment with egg-and-dart motif to frame, and with an angel's head in the tympanum, above an inscription commemorating Samuel Stapylton senior d1760 within a frame of egg-and-dart motif. On the back, crossed bones and other motifs in bas relief. Slab to north has worn wave-shaped top moulded from double cyma shapes, and an inscription commemorating Samuel Stapylton, son of the above, d1758. On the back, a philosophical poem.
