CATTERICK ORAN SE 29 NE 5/48 Pair of outbuildings approximately 5 metres to north of Oran House
GV II
2 attached outbuildings, probably formerly larders. Early C19, altered during World War II. Coursed watershot rubble with brick patching, Welsh slate roofs, probably replacing Westmorland slate. Single storey, 3:1:3 bays. Irregular 7-sided building to left, irregular hexagon to right, linked by narrow bay. Oversailing eaves; hipped roofs surmounted by lead- covered, timber, louvred ventilators. Building to left: lower courses of stone, with brick above. Central 6-panel door in ashlar surround with interrupted jambs; 2-light casement window to right, another window to left and to 3 rear sides. In left return a chute from ground level down into building. Central linking bay has board door. Building to right: all stone, quoins. Central 6-panel door with interrupted jambs and keyed lintel; to left a 2-light casement window under a brick flat arch. Interior: left building: stone floor. Tie beams radial to corners of building, with meat-hooks. Right building: round-arched niche in left side.
