SD 95 SE STIRTON WITH THORLBY 7/11 Inghey Bridge 24.11.77 GV II

Road bridge. 1772-73, incorporating part of an earlier bridge, probably of mid C17 date; widened downstream in C19. Ashlar, mid C19 rubble wing walls. 2 segmental arches to river and one landward arch. Recessed voussoirs and curved dripmould to principal arch, others have flush voussoirs. Additional early to mid C13 flush arches on east and west sides. 4 cutwaters to each side. Slight projection at base of parapets. Coping to parapets; conical bollards at parapet ends. The previous bridge had one arch which survives, forming the north half of the eastern arch of the present structure.
