HAWES EAST END, Gayle SD 88 NE 20/119 Old Hall (formerly listed as 'The' Old Hall) 16.1.52

GV II House. Dated 1695. Rendered rubble, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 4:1:1 first-floor windows. 2-storey gabled porch in fifth bay, with 4-panel door in ashlar surround with moulded arris and decorative panels on lintel " A " inscribed M W 1695 ; a small first-floor Venetian window in chamfered surround; and on right return a ground-floor 4-pane window with weathercourse. Ground-floor windows: 4-pane sash; 2-light casement in double-chamfered surround; 4-light casement in double-chamfered surround with 1 mullion, formerly more; and to right of porch a 2-light casement window in double-chamfered surround of mullion window. First floor: two 2- light casements in double-chamfered surrounds; round-arched fire-window; 3- light casement in double-chamfered surround; and to right of porch a 2-light casement in double-chamfered surround. Stacks at end left and between windows 2 and 3.
