Details
BAINBRIDGE STALLING BUSK SD 98 NW 13/77 Ruins of old church of Saint Matthew - II Ruins of church. Post medieval. Low building of 3 x 2 bays, with added single-storey gabled porch to south with stone benches inside. Chamfered ashlar square-headed inner doorway. 3 plain window openings to south and north. On east side, 2 chamfered mullion windows, 1 without mullion. West wall blank. Interior: 2 arcades of 2 segmental arches running parallel to the gable. The liturgical east may originally have faced north, as is implied by the reconstructed altar base. VCH i, p 212.
