LINTON MAIN STREET SD 9862-9962 (south side, off) 12/63 Clapper bridge approx- imately 20 metres east of Fountaine's Hospital. 10.9.54 GV II Pedestrian bridge over Linton Beck. Probably C17 or earlier, repaired mid C20. Gritstone. 2 piers of rubble stone and roughly-shaped blocks support 3 flat stone slabs, the outer ends of which apparently rest only on the bank. Insensitively repaired with concrete; wood and iron railings. Possibly erected to allow access from Fountaines Hospital to the village of Thorpe and Burnsall beyond.
