Almshouses. Plaque reads: 'THESE ALMSHOUSES / ERECTED AND ENDOWED BY / JAMES WATERHOUSE SMITH ESQR. / 1839'. C20 extensions to rear. Brown brick with ashlar dressings, slate roof. 6 single-cell dwellings. 1 storey, 6 windows. Central pedimented bay contains passage through to rear giving access to 2 dwellings from projecting pedimented porch. Other dwellings have access to street. Tudor-arched doorways, 2-light mullion windows with diamond panes. All openings under drip moulds. Stone coping and ball finial to porch and pediment, kneelers to porch. Ridge stacks.
