Details
DINNINGTON ST. JOHN'S OLDCOTES ROAD SK58NW (north side), Throapham Gate piers and 2/7 attached wall to front of Throapham House GV II
Gate piers and attached wall. Probably late C18. Deeply-coursed, squared limestone, ashlar piers. Each pier has plinth, monolithic shaft and cornice with large ball finial (that on left now of concrete). Attached wall steps down and has tilted slab copings. Wall steps up at left end and returns twice to end at side gate adjoining Throapham House (q.v.). Right end of wall returns at an obtuse angle; attached C20 wall forming side boundary of property not of special interest. Included for group value.
