Details

SK39NE ROTHERHAM SCHOLES LANE (east side) 1/65 No 146 and barn adjoining on the north side II Barn now partly a house. Probably early C16, encased and altered C18 and C19. Timber framing; sandstone rubble walling; stone slate eaves courses to Welsh slate roof, barn covered by sheet asbestos. 2-storey house occupies right bay of 3-bay structure. House: pebble-dashed front wall. Part-glazed door within C20 glazed porch to left of 2-light casement with glazing bars, similar window to 1st floor, small casement above porch. Barn to left: 2 slit vents to left bay. Full-height boarding to central bay with casement above double doors. Hipped roof with gablets and renewed brick end stack to right above eaves. Rear: wallposts set on padstones exposed at right end and flanking central bay, the latter with pigeon holes and high rail beneath wall plate. Interior: barn, now garage, has framing and roof exposed with long curved braces to the tie beams and raking struts clasping single purlins. Collared- rafter roof with original pegged collars. Altered interior of house may conceal features of note.
