War memorial and railed enclosure. 1925 by James Totty of Rotherham (Rotherham
Advertiser). Ashlar limestone, wrought-iron gates and railings, cast-iron lamp
standards and urns. Small cenotaph in the form of a triumphal arch; garden with
railed enclosure has double gate flanked by lamp standards facing onto Church Street.
Monument has plinth beneath plaques bearing dedications to,and names of,men and
women lost in the 1914-18 and 1939-45 wars. Within arch a vessel with eternal
flame set beneath trabeated opening; swags above arch. Monument flanked by urns
by Yates and Hayward of Rotherham. Scrolled gates; lampstandards with light
fittings in lyre-shaped brackets; plain railings.
