Details
SK49NW ROTHERHAM CINDER BRIDGE ROAD (south side), 2/26 Greasbrough Glossop Lodge 30.7.70 (formerly listed as Hexagonal Lodge) - II Lodge. Early C19, restored and extended c1980. Originally for the Wentworth Estate. Coursed, horizontally-tooled sandstone, Welsh slate roof. Small hexagonal structure with low, gabled wings to front and sides; at rear of side wings a C20 extension in the position of former walled yard. Single storey, entered from rear. Gable entry to front wing now has dummy double doors and infilled overlight, plain frieze, moulded pediment copings. Frieze continues round building above sashes with glazing bars in most walls, some windows blind and all openings with recessed aprons and plain lintels. Small recessed panels above frieze on angled side walls of hexagon. Oversailing eaves with wooden- bracketed gutter. Hexagon has renewed hexagonal stack with ashlar cornice.
