4/72 Kennels House and attached range of buildings known as The Kennels
GV II
Two houses with linking range including cart-shed. Partly mid C18 (altered); partly early C19. Deeply-coursed sandstone, stone slate roofs. Elongated L-shaped range: Kennels House forms one limb; the other limb formed by additions to front left which include a 6-bay cart-shed arcade and terminate with another house. 2 storeys. Kennels House: three 1st-floor windows. Central panelled door in flat-roofed, wood porch; flanking windows have renewed casements with glazing bars without surrounds. Blocked, quoined doorway to each end. 1st-floor windows as ground floor. Shaped kneelers, ashlar gable copings. Stone end stacks. Wing to front left of several later builds now refenestrated with C20 casements with glazing bars. Wing immediately adjacent to Kennels House is taller and has end stack; lower range with 2 doors and 5 ground-floor windows forms link to cart- shed. Cart-shed: 6 basket-arched openings with right archway forming passage through to rear. Dressed-stone piers and voussoirs, outer archways wider and with boarded doors, casement window over left arch, others under boarded hatches. House forming end of range: two 1st-floor windows (excluding window over adjacent arch). Door in glazed porch; flanking windows with projecting sills, lintels tooled as voussoirs; end stacks. Wing to rear of cart-shed range not of special interest. Buildings to left connected by garden wall and also known as The Kennels are not included in item.
