2/40 Mausoleum on east side of Newhill Park (formerly 13.11.62 listed as Mausoleum, Newhill Hall Park)

Mausoleum with enclosure wall. 1834 for John Payne of Newhill Hall (Fleming, p11). Coursed, dressed sandstone (weathered); ashlar sandstone roof. Small, square, single-storey structure with identical facades. Plinth; chamfered quoins. Central, round-arched, quoined recesses with sunken apron panels beneath wall stone infill. Cornice. Stepped pyramidal roof; finial removed. No apron panel to south side, presumably indicating former entrance. Low-walled enclosure now in poor condition, cast-iron railings removed.
