2. Woodside Cottages, now forming the north wing of the farmhouse is a medieval timber- framed building encased in gritstone with stone slate roof in the C17. Five-light chamfered mullioned windows on both floors and 2-light chamfered mullioned window with small circular one above. Four-centred arch doorway with massive pediment shaped lintel. Cannon water spout in line with doorway below kneeler of east gable end of late C17 farmhouse. Inside, Woodside Cottage retains heavy wall posts, heavy stud partition with later farmhouse (Originally outer wall), chamfered ceiling beam with ogee stop, of heavy scantling, straight tenoned joists; roof trusses of arch braced kingposts. Turned baluster C18 straight flight staircase. In the early C19 a 2-bay square mullion windowed extension was added to the north. The late C17 farmhouse stands at right angles to the cottage with saddlestone gable ends with kneelers. The south front has 4, 5, 6 and 7-light chamfered mullion windows, chamfered doorway. Outshut to rear and external chimney with offsets. To south and linked at first floor level with the farmhouse at its south-east corner is a late C17 or early C18 cottage extension with 3-light chamfered mullion windows and former first floor doorway in return. This extension links in turn with the barn running east-west: sandstone brick with stone slate roof, largely of C19 build. A good farmstead clearly showing the historical evolution of the local vernacular.
