2. Former Goods Station and warehouse probably connected with iron foundries formerly in this area. Circa 1860-70 ashlar millstone grit long building with gable end slate roof. One-storey to yard, reached by ramp with paved cartway, 2-storeys to north- west side down to road level. The gable ends are coped and contain oculi windows. The single-storey yard front has a full length canopy, set below eaves level, supported on large girder brackets and with fretted valances to sides. Three large loading bays. Remains of platform extent to north-east. Lower office extension to south-west and also with oculus in gable. The 2-storey elevation has 14 shallow revealed windows with 3 x 5 fixed iron framed panes; 5 on ground floor and 2 large drive in loading bays with flanking buttresses. Well detailed functional design.
