1. 5111 CASTLE YARD Ilkley LS29 9DT ------------------- Manor House (formerly listed as Nos 1 and 3 The Castle) SE 1147 1/2 18.7.49. 2 A large house, now a museum, of C16, the central portion perhaps earlier. 2 and 3 storeys. Irregular. Coursed, squared stone. Stone slab roof. Ranges east and west. Main north front has a gabled projection at the left end, and 2 abutting at the right, and windows as follows: 4-light (under dripmould): 3-light: 5-light: 5-light. There is also a plain pointed doorway on the left of the central portion and evidently later straight-headed doorways at the right of the centre portion and on the left of the right hand gable. There is a 3rd storey window (of 3 lights under dripmould) in the left gable only. All lights except those of the left gable windows and that above in the middle portion are round-headed. The right-hand gables have crocketed finials. At the rear there is an additional 4th gable.
