SOWERBY BRIDGE BURNLEY ROAD SE 0225-O325 (west side, off) 6/23 - -- Luddenden Foot Pigsty and pigeon- house approx 45 metres to north-west of Upper Foot Farmhouse GV II Pigsty and pigeonhouse. Probably late C18 with C18 rear addition converted to cottage early Cl9. Coursed squared stone and rubble brought to course; stone slate roofs. Pair of l-storey sties with front yards, pigeonhouse above and added cell to rear. South-east front: yard walls are of rubble brought to course with flat coping. Sties have quoins and to each a plain-stone surround doorway on inside of a window with stone lintel and projecting cill. To right of right-hand window, at lintel level, is a slate ledge with blocked rectangular bird opening above. Left return: the addition, set back on left, is of rubble brought to course, and has quoins, a blocked C18 window opening on right with a C19 doorway and 2-light window to left, an C18 window opening with 1ater lintel above, a stack on right at junction with sties, and a pent roof. Right return: chamfered quoined gable doorway to pigeonhouse. Addition on right has a bricked-up opening with tiestones on left and a blocked 3-light flat-faced mullion window above on right. Interior of addition: on left of rear wall of pigsties is a blocked doorway with tiestones and a deep lintel.
