29.3.65 Nether End Farmhouse

G.V. II

Farmhouse. C17 with mid or late C18 south front and late C18 additions.
Part rendered, hammer dressed stone. Quoins. Stone slate roof with
gable copings on moulded kneelers. Two storeys. Elevation to farmyard
has entrance with moulded surround and arched head. To right is 5-light
window with hood mould with square stops, and 4-light window with hood
mould to 1st floor. Both double chamfered and each with 2 mullions
removed. Later cross window to left. Projecting gable further to left.
Set back to right is late C18 addition. South front of 4 bays. Raised
quoins and window surrounds. Recent casements. Entrance with small
stone canopy on consoles. 1st floor sill band. Ashlar gable stacks
and stone brackets to gutter. Late C18. Outshut at rear with late C18
openings.

Interior: not fully inspected but has dog-leg stair with ramped moulded
handrail visible in C17 portion, contemporary with south front.
