PONTEFRACT ROPERGATE SE 4521 NW (south-west side) 7/53 No 45 29.7.50 GV II

House, now shop and offices. Probably early C18, refronted early C19. Ashlar with slate roof. Two storeys, 3 slightly asymmetrical bays with central entrance bay slightly to right. Plinth. Entrance has double-leaf panelled door below traceried fanlight; doorcase with panelled jambs, archivolt on moulded imposts and moulded cornice supported by tall consoles. To either'side, sash windows with glazing bars on plain sill band. First floor has 3 similar sashes with projecting sills. All windows below plain flush lintels. Wide moulded cornice. Stone coped gable to left. Central brick ridge stack. Interior: vestibule has leaved part-glazed door below fanlight in pulvinated architrave with corner paterae, similar architrave inside front door, side doors match but do not have fanlights; rear hall has decorative encaustic floor tiles; segmental-arched opening mid-way along rear hall; rear door has architrave matching those at front with fanliqht.
