PONTEFRACT BEAST FAIR SE 4521 NW (north-east side) 7/11 Nos 22 and 24 including the shop premises on the corner of Corn 3.3.75 Market and Shoe Market (formerly listed as Nos. 22 and 24 and premises at corner of Shoe Market occupied by Farmers Butchers). GV II Two houses, now 2 shops with hairdressing salon above. Late C18 or early C19 with later alterations. Painted brick in English garden wall bond, Welsh slate roof. 3 storeys, 2 bays. Ground floor: C20 shop fronts not of special interest. First- floor windows are sashes; second-floor windows are smaller, C20 casements to left, sash to right; windows have projecting ashlar sills and ashlar voussoired wedge lintels. Roof hipped to left. Large ridge stack between bays. Left return: 2 bays. Ground floor: 4-panel door below overlight with chamfered lintel, giving access to upper floors. Upper windows as front, except both second-floor windows are C20 casements. The matching 1-bay range on left, with a straight joint between, and returning'into Shoe Market, fronts onto Corn Market. Included for group value.
