3/30 Former Primitive 4.5.82 Methodist Chapel -

II

Former chapel, now in industrial use. Dated 1863, later rear addition. Squared, dressed stone with ashlar quoins and dressings. Welsh slate roof. Two storeys and basement. Pedimented 3-bay symmetrical front framed by rusticated quoins. Projecting plinth below which are 2 square-headed basement windows. Central round-arched doorway with fanlight, gained by a renewed brick stair, in a rusticated slightly-projecting panel which continues through the 1st floor. Round-arched sash windows with glazing bars, that to the 1st-floor centre with wide ashlar surround. Band between floors. The pediment has a central tablet inscribed:

"MOUNT ZION Primitive Methodist Church 1863"

The rear elevation is framed by square clasping buttresses which rise as corner stacks. Central addition with 2 round-arched windows to ground floor and 2 square-headed basement windows, that to left now enlarged to form a loading door. The flanking side walls have round-arched windows. Left and right returns are plain apart from a basement door and window. Interior: not inspected.
