BARDSEY-CUM-RIGTON CORN MILL LANE SE34SE LS17 (north side) 7/9 Cowhouse and granary 5.2.73 to north-west of Bardsey Grange (formerly listed as ancillary building to barn and on Mill Lane)

GV II

Cowhouse with granary above. c1800. Hammer-dressed stone with red sandstone dressings, stone slate roof. With the barn and cart-shed opposite forms a U-shaped range. 2 storeys. Four 1st-floor windows. Quoins. Four doorways with deep lintels and tie-stone jambs. 1st doorway has 2 small windows to either side. Another window set between 3rd and 4th doorways. 1st-floor windows, evenly-spaced, and set under eaves have thin lintels. Rear: low segmental-arched cart-entry has inserted wooden lintel below arch and double doors. 1st-floor doorway has sandstone sill. To right end, window with keyed lintel. Left-hand return has 1st-floor doorway approached up a flight of 9 stone steps.

Interior: only ground floor inspected - rooms with square-cut spine beams and joists, the walls with feeding racks.
