HUTTON C.P. MAIN ROAD (north side) Sutherland House

GV II House, thought to be by the architect Henry Rumley. Early C19, extended mid C19. Stucco, slate roof. Two storeys, two windows, further three to right in later wing; windows are tall glazing bar sashes, ground floor have pelmets, later porch off-centre right, heavy, overhanging eaves with lozenge decoration to soffit, hipped roof; later wing to right has two- and three-light casements under cambered heads; two window return at left has a two storey semi-circular bay, french windows below with pelmets, glazing bar sashes above. Garden front: two storeys, 2 windows, further wing to left culminates in canted bay, plain entrance in re-entrant angle under quarter circle Doric portico with four columns, windows as front except one round headed.
