SJ 68 NW WALTON C.P. WALTON LEA ROAD (South side) 3/64 Walton Lea Bridge

Road Bridge probably circa 1770 by James Brindley for the Duke of Bridgewater, carrying drive from Walton Lea Road across the Bridgewater Canal to Walton Hall Park. Stone-dressed brown brick. Deep segmental arch with raised stone band around brick voussoirs. Quadrant abutments with rounded flush copings of stone and square stone-coped end-piers. The parapets, proabably circa 1838, have rectangular recessed panels. Rubbing-post of oak for towropes at west corner of south abutment.
