SHINFIELD KYBES LANE (north side) SU 66 NE 7/1 Hopkiln Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse, now house. C16 and C17 altered C19 and mid C20. Part brick, part timber framed with brick infill. Old tiled gabled roof. Irregular plan with crosswing on east with catslide roof at rear, 1 x 2 framed bays. 2 storeys and attic. Large chimney with 3 clustered shafts on ridge in centre. Entrance front: timber frame on left removed in part at ground floor level with one bay late C20 leaded lights, gabled C20 entrance porch in centre and to right of this a gable to crosswing rebuilt in brick, with brick string and one bay of C20 3-light leaded casements, and single light in attic. C19 catslide roof and extension to right of this. Interior: most of the timber frame exposed, and large inglenook fireplace.
