BRAY OCKWELLS ROAD SU 87 NE (south side, off) 9/7 Cox Green 25.3.55 Barn at Ockwells Manor G.V. I

Large threshing barn, now disused. Late C15. Timber frame, brick infill; old tile gabled roof. Long rectangular plan of 9 framed bays with two gabled midstreys of 2 framed bays each in the third and seventh bays on the south west front. Interior: very fine timber frame. Queen post roof trusses, clasped through purlins; jowled posts; long curved knee- and wind-braces. Rafter holes on all rafters, including those in midstreys. V.C.H., Vol. III, p.96, B.O.E.(Berkshire), p.189.
